Frequently Asked Questions

Q: what do you class as a room?
A: all rooms are charged at the same rate regardless of size with the exception of:

  • lounge/diner = 2 rooms

  • kitchen/diner = 2 rooms

  • stairs = 1 small room

Q: How much time will it take to clean my carpet?
A: Generally, it will take approximately 30-40 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly with respect to the size of the carpet to be cleaned, how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments.

Q: Will you move my furniture?

A: No, our cleaners are not insured to move furniture. To keep our prices the most competative we are not able to offer the removal of furniture to clean underneath, as this would involve extra time and extra insurance which would put our overall prices up. If furniture is left in the room booked to be cleaned we will be happy to clean around it. If furniture has been static for a long period it is likely the carpet beneath will not need nor benefit from being cleaned

Q: What about reoccurring spots & stains?

A: If a spot returned a day or so after cleaning, it may have been due to the nature of the spot. Deep stains tend to surface if they are in the backing of the carpet. We will do our absolute best to remove or improve these kinds of stains, but we cannot guarantee complete removal before we start the cleaning process.

Q: How often should a carpet be cleaned?

A: The frequency of cleaning will vary from one household to another, depending upon the number of occupants and the level of usage. At a minimum, you should clean once a year, however to keep them in a clean and hygienic condition most carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning once every 6 months.  The best thing you can do for your home and your carpets is to have them regularly cleaned by a qualified professional carpet cleaning company, as the build up of soil promotes wear to your carpet far more than foot traffic will. Foot traffic grinds the soil against the carpet fibres and causes a sandpaper effect. This will cause the fibres to dull and become warn looking.

Q: How much time will it take for my carpet to dry?

A: Drying time is determined by humidity levels, airflow to the room(s) cleaned, and the type of carpet. Generally speaking, turning on your air conditioning or heating system, or opening the windows (depending on the time of year) will help speed the process. Although it typically takes 2-12 hours for the carpet to dry completely, you can walk on it as soon as we are finished (we will even provide you with over shoe covers until the carpet is 100% dry - just ask your cleaner on the day!).

Q: Do I need to prepare my carpet for cleaning in any way?
A: Yes we request you vacuum the area to be carpet cleaned thoroughly before our scheduled clean, as this can greatly aid in the cleaning process and improve your results.
Also our cleaners will NEED access to hot tap water for our portable machines.

Q: Do I have to move my furniture prior to the arrival of the Cleaner?
A: It is not essential however to keep our prices consistantly low, our cleaners will not be able to move furniture as to cover the extra time and the extra insurance needed we would need to charge more for the service. We do advise you remove any furniture from the area you wish to be cleaned, although the carpet cleaned will need time to dry sufficiently before low sitting furniture is replaced upon it or there may be the chance it will turn musty. If furniture has been static for a long period it is likely the carpet beneath will not need nor benefit from being cleaned therefore we are happy to go around these if required.
Any furniture left in the room you require cleaned will be cleaned around.

Q:How soon can I walk on the carpet?
A:Try to keep pet, children, and heavy traffic off the carpet during the drying process. Some carpets may feel slightly damp for up to 18 hours depending on the carpet and soil conditions, although most will be dry within 2-4 hours. This is normal and will not cause any problems.

Q: Will the cleaning agents employed cause harm to my children or pets?
A: Absolutely not. However, though it may be both family and environmentally friendly, it is always a good idea to restrict contact between the recently cleaned carpet and your children or pets.

Q: Won’t water damage my carpet?
A: Water can damage carpet if it is improperly extracted. However, the method used by Complete Carpet Services removes 95% of the limited water with our industrial-strength hot water extraction vacuum. In addition, it’s the method that most carpet manufacturers would suggest.

Q: Should I be home while my carpet is being cleaned?
A: No you will not need to be home, as long as we can get access to your property and also to a hot water & electricity supply.
